An interdisciplinary introduction to general Political Science designed with Freshmen and new students in mind. Topics range from Political Theory; Religion and Politics; Political Economy; American Political Thought; and Neoliberalism.

Modern-Contemporary Political Thought
A survey of Western Political and Philosophical Thought from Descartes to Heidegger. Designed around the concept of “Modernity” and its critics, this course seeks to incorporate ideas of modern philosophy with contemporary moral and political issues facing young people today. Other authors covered include Hume, Kant, Marx, Nietzsche, and Freud.

Theories of Ideology
Incorporating philosophical, historical, and psychoanalytic perspectives, students encounter ideology through its major critics and practitioners. Authors taught include Žižek, Benedict Anderson, Nietzsche, Locke, J.S. Mill, Ortega y Gasset, Proudhon, Marx, Lenin, Benjamin, Mussolini, Sorel, Mark Fisher, and Angela Davis.

Intro Comparative Politics
A general introduction to Comparative Politics centering around the major texts of the discipline. Covering topics like the state, political economy, political parties, constitutions, and institutions, students are encouraged to develop original research and reconsider their own biases and approach the world and their communities in a different way.
